This movie borrows liberally from both Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Thing. The whole imposter in the human body concept is Body Snatchers. The scene where science teacher John Stewart's fingers get chopped off and are crawling away is lifted directly from the Thing. The test tube sniffing scene is also a funny reiteration of the blood test scene from the Thing.
