Tim (David Burns) continually calls the three army buddies the Rover Boys, an allusion to a series of juvenile books written by Edward Stratemeyer under the pseudonym Arthur M. Winfield. Stratemeyer is perhaps better known as the author of another juvenile series: The Hardy Boys.
