Copyright dated 1956. Refused a certificate by the British Board of Film Censors on 8 January 1957, (the BBFC were noted for disliking films that featured mental illness). United Artists reduced the running time to 71 minutes and 7 seconds and the film was passed with an "A" certificate on 23 April 1957. First shown at the UA Own Theatre, Wardour Street, on 1 May 1957 (screened at 10:30 and 2:30 for press and trade only). Generally released on 27 May 1957, supporting Drango (1957).
