In the book "The Real Stars 2" (edited by Leonard Maltin), an interview with Bernard Nedell had him reveal that he substituted for Edmond Lowe when the latter fell too ill to work. They were approximately the same age, height and coloring and with some slight adjustments by the make-up department, the ruse went completely undetected.
