The role of Bobby Rydell, opening act of the film, was originally pushed by producers to be played by Andrew Taggart, lead singer of the Chainsmokers, but when he was asked to send in an audition of the song he declined. His contract was pulled and auditions were opened. Peter Farrelly and Charles B. Wessler found actor/singer Von Lewis to fill the part.
