The forest where Queen Liliuokalani walks after King Kalakaua dies and where Princess Kaiulani gets crowned was filmed at the Sherwood Forest on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. In 2019, work started to build a massive sports complex that would require the forest to be cleared. In September of 2019, new construction equipment was brought in because the previous equipment was set on fire and protesters blocked the entry gate and arrest were made. Hawaiian artifacts have been found on the site but the city has said it will continue to build despite the finds.
