Though this is the first official film (canon) where Force Healing is used, it has been a part of the Stars Wars computer games since 2002, starting with "Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast" (released by the gaming division of LucasArts), where a player can earn that ability, and continuing with "Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy" in 2003, where it is among the choices a player can make along their path to Light or Dark.
