There is a throwaway line as Finn and Rey sink in the 'quicksand' where Finn says to Rey "there's something I never told you" - the rest cutoff by the sand and left unsaid. Then, near the end of the movie, Finn is shown sensing Rey's "death." It seems an unused subplot relates to Finn being revealed to be Force-sensitive... much like Leia was in the original movies.
