In the final race of the film, a logo that reads "Burt & Hal's" can be seen on the Skoal racing car. This is in reference to Burt Reynolds' partnership with director Hal Needham and fellow actor and racer Paul Newman, when they formed the Skoal Bandit Racing ahead of the 1981 season. The team's name borrowed from the smokeless tobacco sponsorship and the "Smokey and the Bandit" movie title.
