Apparently, depending on the host and mode of infection, the Xenomorph takes on a different form. The Engineer in Prometheus (2012), following his encounter with the Squid-like creature, gives birth to a version of the Neomorph, which fans often refer to as 'The Deacon'. In this film, the Neomorphs are created through a viral infection, while the actual Xenomorph is created via the traditional parasitic infection method established in the earlier Alien movies.
