According to the Blu-ray booklet and interviews, there were four different endings considered for the movie. In Michael Ronald Ross and Anthony Overman's original ending, the girls had George Hancock to a grill and would definitely going to kill him, but he tore the grill loose and beat jackson. Donna joined in the fight but she ended up helping George and killed Jackson, then she left the house and walked away into the morning light as Bobbie Gentry sang "But I Can't Get Back", which Michael very much wanted to use in the movie. In a later revision, possibly done by Jo Heims, the girl spared George and they got away with everything. They left the house and were picked up by a driver while hitchhiking and told him they were going to an all-night party and he agreed to come along. The girls smiled knowingly at each other and the film would freeze frame and it would end. The director Peter Traynor had an idea that as the girls were about to kill George he would wake up and realize it had all been a dream, but then the doorbell would ring and it would be the girls! It was decided that was a cop out and Peter trainer chose the ending of SPOILER ALERT the girls leaving the house and getting run over by the humane society van! Michael Ronald Ross was not a fan of that ending.
