Liv's murder by Ghostface Amber in the film's climax mirrors Billy Loomis' reveal as Ghostface in the original Scream (1996), where Billy revealed himself as one of the two killers shooting Randy Meeks. Amber does the same by shooting Liv but unlike Randy, delivers a kill shot.
