This film was writer/producer/director James Glickenhaus's gritty take on the James Bond spy genre. All of Glickenhaus's films were his subversive, more adult-orientated take on other genres. His first film "The Suicide Cult", was his version of the horror boom of the late seventies, his follow up film "The Exterminator" was his take on the seventies classic "Death Wish". His 80's action film "The Protector" starring Jackie Chan, was his attempt to explore the genre made famous by Dirty Harry. His next picture, the buddy actioner "Shakedown" was his answer to "Lethal Weapon". His 1991 revolutionary war epic "McBain" was "Rambo", while the 1993 thriller "Slaughter of the Innocents" was his version of "Silence of the Lambs". Finally, his 1995 fantasy flick "TimeMaster" came hot on the heels of the 1994 sci-fi thriller"TimeCop".
