Among the many liberties taken with the facts of Porter's life, the Broadway premier date of See America First, Porter's first Broadway show, was March 28, 1916, but the sinking of the Lusitania (which supposedly leads toward the show failing) had taken place almost a year earlier, May 7, 1915. Furthermore, the song "You Do Something To Me," the only song heard in this movie that was supposedly part of See America First, in truth wouldn't be heard until 1929 in Porter's show Fifty Million Frenchmen.
