Surprisingly, the studio distributing Eddie Murphy's earlier movies and the original Le folli notti del dottor Jerryll (1963) was Paramount Pictures, but Universal Pictures released this movie and its sequel. This is one of the few remakes not distributed by the same studio releasing the previous movie.
