Unlike Honey 2 (2011), which at least featured Lonette McKee and Lauriann Gibson reprising their roles along with Honey Daniels' dance studio serving as an important plot point, this installment has little connection to the original film with the only ties being canonical references to the first film and Melea Martin mentioning having trained at Honey's dance studio.
