This is misleading - 2021 data from the University of Sydney indicates that while people with gun licenses are buying more guns, the number of people with gun licenses is falling. The proportion of Australians who hold a gun licence has declined by 48 percent since 1997, and the proportion of Australian households with a firearm has fallen by 75 percent in recent decades.
