"Carry On" regular Hattie Jacques is well known in the series for portraying the Matron in the medical installments such as Carry on Nurse (1959), Carry on Doctor (1967), Carry on Matron (1972) and Carry on Again Doctor (1969). In Carry on Camping (1969), Jacques portrayed a School Matron who formerly worked as a matron at a hospital. It's never been officially confirmed how many of her other Matrons are actually standalone roles, or the character at different times in her career.
