This is the fourth (of seven) music scores that Jerry Goldsmith composed for director Franklin J. Schaffner. Goldsmith had previously scored "Donna d'estate (1963)," "Il pianeta delle scimmie (1968)" and "Patton, generale d'acciaio (1970)," and later scored "I ragazzi venuti dal Brasile (1978)," all of them Oscar nominated. Goldsmith's score for this film was also Academy Award nominated for Best Music, Original Dramatic Score, the movie's only Oscar nomination.
