Late in the film, when Maren and Lee are living together, Maren holds a copy of Clive Barker's novel Cabal in her hands. Similar to Bones and All (2022), Cabal, which Barker adapted into the film Cabal (1990), is the story of unnoticed "monsters" existing in a prejudiced society and lashing out when discovered.
