Of all of the Tom Cruise films in the Paramount library, this is the only one in which Paramount was not initially involved, as well as the only one not fully owned by Paramount. The studio wouldn't have a stake in the film until it purchased the previous US rights-holders, DreamWorks, in 2006. Internationally the film is owned by 20th Century Studios, a subsidiary of Disney. Though when the film was released originally, 20th Century Studios was known as 20th Century Fox and was a separate entity from Disney.
