The aircraft depicted as landing on fire, bringing in Tivall, is a Beech SNB-1 "Kansan", a naval version of the model 18, serial no. 51064, built in 1943. It was converted to a SNB-5 c.1953. It was sold in 1966 and registered as N90251 and scrapped in 1971. Over 9,000 model 18s were built from 1937 to 1970, with over half being military versions.
