Several of the film's new cast members have appeared in other projects with the leads of the original Ghostbusters (Acchiappafantasmi) (1984). Before making this film, Melissa McCarthy appeared in Tammy (2014) with Dan Aykroyd, followed by St. Vincent (2014) with Bill Murray. Charles Dance previously appeared in Alien³ (1992) with Sigourney Weaver. Additionally, Kristen Wiig and Harold Ramis were both in Molto incinta (2007), Wiig and Weaver were both in Paul (2011), and Chris Hemsworth and Weaver were both in Quella casa nel bosco (2011), although in both cases, their respective characters do not appear on-screen together.
