Marvel Comics did a three-issue adaptation of this film to kick off their new Star Trek comic book series. In that adaptation, there was a sequence at V'Ger's Memory Wall that differed from Spock's trip outside the ship in this film. It appears Marvel was using the original script as the basis for their adaptation and did not know the Memory Wall scene had been scrapped. It first appeared in its entirety as the Marvel Super Special for December 1979.
