The film used the abandoned Griggs House as the location of the climactic ending. It was a two-story wooden house, built on a stone foundation. It was located in the unincorporated community of Granite, Maryland. It was an example of Federal-style architecture, a style popular from the 1780s to the 1830s as an American modification of the older style of Palladian architecture.
