Eric Mabius was due to reprise his role from the first film, with the plan involving scenes depicting Matt, still a human, metamorphosing into Nemesis. However, Mabius pulled out of the film shortly before production began, and the flashback scenes depicting his mutation were portrayed by an unidentified actor. Nemesis, after Matt's mutation, is played by Matthew G. Taylor.
