Barry Levinson refused to let Adrian Cronauer and Robin Williams meet during the film's production. Levinson feared that had the two met, Williams would, however subconsciously, mimic Cronauer during his performance, negatively affecting the characterization. Williams and Cronauer would eventually meet at the movie's premiere.
