Despite the main characters being slated at 17 and Laura Barns at 16 in 2013 prior to her suicide, Blaire Lily's and Laura Barns' facebook accounts put their birthdates at 1994 and 1996 respectively. An explanation was provided unto this however as a majority of Facebook users young and old give an incorrect birthdate for humorous or privacy reasons.
