This movie's climax race used actual race footage from the Talladega Superspeedway motor-sports complex. Close-ups for the finale were filmed at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Hampton, Georgia. The latter was known as the Atlanta International Raceway during the time of filming, its name being changed in 1990. Previously, the opening scenes of the earlier Burt Reynolds movie Una canaglia a tutto gas (1980) had also been shot at the Atlanta track.
