During the dinner between Renton and Veronika at the restaurant, after she interests about "Choose Life" that often times Simon says her, Renton reveals her not only that it was part of a campaign against the drugs in the 80s, but that he and his friends played with the title adding things, making a speech to remember the opening of Trainspotting (1996). "Choose Life" was prominently featured in the music video Wham!: Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go (1984), where it was written on the shirt of George Michael.
