When Priyadarshan first got the idea for De Dana Dan, he wanted to remake his own film "Vettam" But When He Narrated The story To The Producers, they told him that a movie with a same story was already made in Bollywood Called Pyar Hona Hi Tha ( Ajay Devgn and Kajol) This Problem arised because both vettam and Pyar to hona hi tha are remakes of "French Kiss " So After This Priyadarshan rewrote the screenplay and only included the hotel sequence from vettam, and copied the first half from the English movie "Screwed "
