Jetfire is primarily based on his Transformers (1984) incarnation (a former Decepticon), and his body's parts being fused with Optimus Prime is an homage to his Transufômâ: Maikuron densetsu (2002) incarnation, who could combine with Prime to form a stronger robot. He also incorporates elements from the Transformers (1984) Autobots Kup (an elderly war veteran) and Sky-Lynx (an English-accented, bombastic personality) and Decepticon Scourge (a bearded robot).
