Robert Stephens and Sir Michael Hordern appeared together again in the BBC Radio adaptation of The Lord of the Rings, as Aragorn and Gandalf, respectively. Roddy McDowall played Samwise Gamgee in the television adaptation of Il ritorno del re (1980). Bill Nighy played this role in the radio version.
