When Frank Darabont was in discussion with HBO about taking the series, Thomas Jane was attached to play Rick Grimes. The negotiations fell through, and when the series was eventually greenlit by AMC, Jane was unable to appear due to working on Hung - Ragazzo squillo (2009).
