The film's opening title card read: "New York City 1946". The picture is set in New York's Hell's Kitchen and not Los Angeles' Paradise Alley district as in the earlier film with the same title Paradise Alley (1962). Sylvester Stallone was born in 1946 (the time the film is set) and grew up in Hell's Kitchen.
