This is one several comedies during World War II where civilians encounter enemy spies. This was part of Hollywood's war effort to keep the public on guard for the presence of Fifth Columnists. Among the others were Sesta colonna (1942) where a group of street gamblers bust up a Nazi spy ring and Let's Get Tough! (1942) where the East Side Kids tackle Japanese spies.
