Sam Raimi wanted Bill Pope to be the film's cinematographer, but Pope was busy working on Matrix Reloaded (2003) and Matrix Revolutions (2003). Raimi's second choice was Peter Deming, but he was working on Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002).
