The prom scene features Rachael Leigh Cook's character recognizing a cover of "Kiss Me" and wondering where she has heard the song before. This is a deliberate nod to the original Kiss Me (1999) which Cook starred in and in which the original song by Sixpence None the Richer was famously featured.
