In an interview published in Star Wars Insider magazine #200, Ian McDiarmid revealed two lines that didn't make the final cut of the film from Kylo Ren's first encounter with Palpatine : Kylo would say "You're a clone!" and Palpatine would have replied "More than a clone, less than a man." McDiarmid thought this line summed up his character extremely well.
