In the scene where Dr. Calvin says to Detective Spooner that a robot can no more commit murder than a human could walk on water, Spooner replies, "You know, there was this one guy, a long time ago-" before he is interrupted mid-sentence by Sonny's first appearance. Spooner was about to reference Jesus Christ, whom the Bible describes as having the ability to walk on water. This also references Sonny's Messiah role in the film.
