Although Patrick Dempsey doesn't appear in the film, we finally learn what happened to his Scream 3 (2000) character Mark Kincaid after Scream 4 (2011). Turns out Sidney and Mark got married and had kids. Patrick Dempsey was considered to reprise his role as Mark for the fourth film, but scheduling conflicts with Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011) would have made it impossible.
