Stephen Fry previously appeared in Wilde as Oscar Wilde, the real-life inspiration for the character of Mycroft. This makes him the second actor to have played both a character in a Sherlock Holmes story and his real-life counterpart. Ian Richardson has played both Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Joseph Bell.
