For the 1951-set Festival of Britain scenes, an area of the Thames near the BFI in London was used for two nights of filming. The firework display edited into the scene was shot at 'The Metropolitan Police Court Sports and Social Club' at Imber Court in Surrey on 5 November 1986 (Guy Fawkes Night). This was done about two months after filming had wrapped. The Skylon also visible in the same scene was an optical effect added in post production, as the original Skylon had been taken down in 1952 and sold for scrap.
