This was the seventh time that cinematographer Jan De Bont collaborated with Paul Verhoeven, most of their other projects being films made in their native Netherlands. This was their final collaboration after their first Hollywood outing, L'amore e il sangue (1985), as de Bont made his directorial debut Speed (1994) shortly thereafter.
