The sequence where Sulley thinks that Boo has gone through the trash compactor is an almost shot-for-shot remake (and an homage to) the Warner Bros Looney Tunes cartoon short Feed the Kitty (1952). In that cartoon a bulldog named Marc Antony mistakenly believes that Pussyfoot, a kitten he has adopted, has been made into a cookie.
