The roles of Rochefort and de Winter were previously played by Christopher Lee and Faye Dunaway. Lee appeared with Donald Sutherland in The Castle of the Living Dead. Lee also appeared in the film Jinnah, his character having previously appeared in Gandhi with Martin Sheen. Chris O'Donnell and Faye Dunaway appeared together in The Chamber.
