When asked about the breaking news of the attacks on the twin towers, the Globe staffer says it was, "a prop plane." At first there was a great deal of conjecture and miscommunication. What was initially reported was that "a twin engine plane" had struck the (first) tower. The reaction of the public was that this was a small twin engine prop or turboprop commuter or private plane. It was not until all attention and all the news cameras were focused on the first tower that the second plane crashed into the second tower, which confirmed visually that these were twin engine airliners.
