During production, Anthony Daniels and all other actors playing "C-3PO"-type droids had to lean against a board to rest, as their costumes were not flexible enough to allow them to sit. In scenes where C-3PO is required to sit, Daniels' costume had to be partially disassembled to allow him to sit down. This was hidden by using camera angles, and by having C-3PO sit behind things. This inflexible costume problem was also experienced by actor Jack Haley, who played the Tin Woodsman in Il mago di Oz (1939).
