Peter Briggs was hired to write a script in 1995 which featured Steven and Jessica from Jason va all'inferno (1993), and Alice and Jacob from Nightmare 5 - Il mito (1989) meeting together by accident during a car breakdown. Jason returns as a demon, dressed in black coveralls, black shiny shin-protectors and wears an angry expressed metal hockey mask (a nod to Jason Goes to Hell's poster.) And was set during 1999 as the world collapses for a new, darker Millennium. The script lacked any slashing, a 15 second fight with Freddy Krueger who doesn't fully appear near the end during the final chase in Hell. There was a meta joke with Nightmare - Nuovo incubo (1994) playing during a nightmare sequence and redesigned Freddy to be 8 feet tall with a "Schwarzenegger" body and had 15-inch scimitar blades for fingers with a more "monsterous" face. Pamela and Elias Voorhees would've been part of the mob that burned Freddy and got his revenge by drowning Jason after moving away from Springwood. The screenwriter admitted that he was a fan "Nightmare" part 3,4, & 5 but despised the "Friday" movies besides Part 9. The script made references to other horror films and comics like The Wicker Man (1973), Godzilla (1954), Carnage from Spider-Man, a "Spawn vs. The Mask" joke and featured a cameo with Leatherface's corpse and the Phantasm sphere plucking on Freddy's face, and name drops of "Myers." The Necronomicon and dagger also makes an appearance. The script also has a Grim Reaper/Satan-esque villain named "Thanos: Lord of the Underworld" (a direct nod to the Marvel Comics) in the finale who's revealed to have Freddy and Jason be pawns of Thanos and Freddy was the one pawning Jason's souls to him. The script ended with a FBI agent traveling through time, erasing Freddy and Jason's killer-selves out of existence with Freddy never being set free and Amanda Krueger being a counselor at Crystal Lake with a older and happier Jason. This ending would've been somewhat recycled for "Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash: Nightmare Warriors."
