Remade in Russia with the title Politseiskiye i vory (1997), adapted to time of filming and to Russian setting in anti-American key. The title is the literal Russian translation of Guardie e ladri and the same used for the Russian edition of the original 1951 movie. The role of the cop was played by Vyacheslav Nevinny (who received the Nika award in 1998) and the one of the criminal by Gennady Khazanov.
